Phasing out of fluorescent lamps in the EU in 2023:
In 2021, the previous European product-related ecodesign directives were repealed by the new EU product regulation for light sources and operating devices (2019/2020/EU). Lamps and light sources have since been subject to stricter energy efficiency regulations. The RoHS Directive now means that compact fluorescent lamps will be phased out for manufacturers by February 25, 2023, and most linear fluorescent lamps (T8 and T5) by August 25, 2023.
